Is this cable made for the DS Lite or for the original DS?

No. It is not made for the DS Lite or for the original DS, because those two consoles use a different charging connector. It is made for 3DS, 3DS XL, New 3DS, New 3DS XL, 2DS, 2DS XL, New 2DS XL, DSi and DSi XL.
Does the pack include a mains plug, or do I need my own USB adapter?

The pack holds two 1.2m charging leads and no mains plug. Put the USB-A end into a USB wall adapter you already own, a laptop, a power bank or a car charger. Charging needs a USB source rated at 5V and at least 1A.
Can I carry on playing while the console charges through this lead?

Yes. The cable provides continuous 5V charging through the charging port during gameplay, and the 1.2m length leaves enough slack to keep playing. For the fastest full charge, switch the console off while it is charging.
What kind of USB power supply should I use with this charging cable?

Use a standard USB source rated at 5V and at least 1A, such as a laptop port, a power bank, a car USB socket or a plain USB wall adapter. The USB-A end fits all of them. Charging runs at 5V through the console charging port.
